Egad it's been a while....

Well, it's been a month of change for me. First, Empire in their infinite wisdom decide that they no longer needed me. Just out of the blue they terminated me and gave me a severance package. As far as I know everything was working fine, there were no outstanding issues, but they wouldn't tell me why so I can only speculate. On the good side of things, I had two job offers within 24 hours of being terminated, so Empire can kiss my ass.

I took the full time job offer, but it is in Vancouver, so that means a fucking move!! I hate... no loathe (better word), moving!! Mainly because I have too much shit. At least with this move I have gotten rid of some of the shit I don't use, although I will have to get rid of some more to fit everything in it's place in my new apartment.

Speaking of the new apartment, here is the view off my balcony:

of course it's Vancouver, so it was pissing rain when I took the pictures.

The top one is looking NE towards downtown, and the bottom on is looking SE towards False Creek. The bridge that you see is the Burrard Street Bridge.

Now back to the job, I now work in a super huge bookstore and it's the busiest in Vancouver, so that probably makes it the busiest in BC. The first two days were great, I had 3 weeks off before I started on the 10th of October so I was well rested. The third day proved to be quite interesting. A package containing a white powder was left in the management office, it was opened and the decision to contact the VPD was made. This of course resulted in the Hazardous Materials Team being dispatched, the store being closed, all of the customers evacuated, the two managers who opened the package being quarantined, and then decontaminated. They figure the city of Vancouver spent about $1 Million to deal with this situation. The borders even had security tightened! It was pretty intense, for something that turned out to be nutrasweet. Whoever left the package is looking at some serious jail time and fines. All of that on my third day, I think I can handle anything else they throw at me.

All in all I think that the move to Vancouver has been a blessing, but I will miss some of the people in Victoria. Each time I go to visit my grandma (Amma), I will be making additional stops to visit my friends in Vic.
